1954 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst - Serial: 0689

This Beautiful guitar was sourced by the son of the original owner, but when it arrived here it was in very poor conditions, since both the neck and body have been stripped from paint and painted with non correct, 80s finishes. With our bigger surprise though, majority of the original parts were there, from the tremolo claw with still the original solder and ground wire, to the screws, jack cup, bridge with rare early saddles, hardware and pickguard. Our customer sourced the other missing parts, and then our ToneTeam Luthiers did literally a miracle in bringing the guitar back to its pristine glory.

The Neck:

Our Master Artisan and Restorer, Luthier Matteo Rufini, removed the non original finish from the neck, saving the frets which were still good. The neck has been sanded some on the edges when it was refretted last time, so he had to reshape by hand all of those to the correct 1954 look, and then he restored a few of the front dots, since they have been replaced with some black resin. Matteo installed correct sized fiberboard dots, and then he had to fix the headstock, since other tuners were crudely installed, leaving the neck with tears and scars from that operation. Matteo made a incredible wood patch and insert, with matched grain, and finally restored the headstock to fit the original “no-line” Kluson tuners.
Once the neck repair was completed, he restored the neck finish using the exact primer and materials used back then, giving the neck its original vibe back.

The Body:

The original body still retained the factory finish and markings in the cavities and amazingly even under the neck-plate, so our Master Luthier Romano Burini carefully prepared the body wood for the new finish without bothering the original parts left.
He reshot the correct sunburst using the exact procedure and technique Fender was using at the time (August 1954) and matching the thickness and colour of the burst to the original parts left on the guitar. The stunning 3d grained 2 pieces swamp ash body is really spectacular

The guitar is a feather, 3,2 Kg only, and after a final professional setup it’s now ready for a entire new life of music.

We’ve been very proud of this opportunity, and we are really thankful to our Customer for the trust.
