1962 Fender Stratocaster Fiesta Red - Serial 99726 - The Bauer / Munter Strat

Back in 1962 Hans Bauer went to the Frankfurt Music Trade show in Germany where he met Don Randall. He came back with a white Fender Stratocaster that he showed to all the music shops in Italy. Just after that first promotional tour he placed the first order at fender, for some Strats and Jazz Basses in fiesta red and in sunburst.

In that very first batch was this one, a late 62 strat in fiesta red, which is still in near mint conditions with original strap, cord, tag, ashtray cover, tremolo arm, fender strings and the first issue of the “for fender” case by Polverini Bros.

Mr. Massimo Munter, the original and unique owner of this guitar went with his Mom to pickup the beauty up in Bologna in spring 1963 and kept it until today. He then bought a Showman amp with JBL speakers and a Echorec Binson Baby, and also a spare 15’ JBL speaker which he gave me as well.

A guess is that more or less 10 to 20 guitars were ordered in this color in 1962, and given to some of the most famous band and artists from the time, from "Lucio Battisti" to "Equipe 84", from "Dino e I kings" to "I Satelliti", from "I Camaleonti" to "I Dik Dik". One of those ended up with mr. Munter, who played it throughout Italy from 1963 until 1969, playing live the music of Hank Marvin and the shadows with his Binson Echorec and his Fender tremolo arm and amp. When he stopped playing he kept the guitar in the case, with still the old strings from 1969 on, until 19th Sep, 2020, the day when he gave it to me.

This is a incredible piece of Fender history which I'm really proud to own.
