GEAR FOR SALE

1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard - 9 2232

This beautiful 1959 Les Paul Standard has been found from the original owner, “Abie”, in Dublin Ireland in 2020. The guitar has been abandoned for at least two decades in an Attic and was far from playable conditions. It's a factory "stop tail", Bigsby was added upon the owner's request when he purchased it brand new in 1960.

Some of the original parts, such as the catalin tip and the jack plate were lost, while the original Bigsby unit and the “dogbone” bridge used with it were still present. The neck pickup ring was broken and the neck pickup needed repair. The original pickguard, tuners and knobs were retrieved in a box. The binding also needed attention and some frets were missing.

All in all the instrument needed some expected TLC from a guitar that’s been played all it’s life and then left unused resting in a Attic. But no headstock breaks or funky routings.

After a professional refret, board binding restoration, professional cleaning and neck pickup repair the instrument is back to all its original glory, with an awesome case candy with Abie’s “in action” pictures, and pics also from the very day of the sale.
