PORTFOLIO - 1960's

1967 Fender Stratocaster Lake Placid Blue "Mia Martini" - Serial: 182762

This beautiful guitar is 100% original down to each and every screw, and has been in the same, long term collection for the last 30 years.

The only evidence of some "modifications" is the bone nut, which is the original one, but appears to have been at least taken off and on again once.

I'm pointing out that detail because this guitar has quite a story. According to the owner, this guitar was given as a backup to the great Jimi Hendrix when he was touring Italy In 1968. The first show was planned in Milan, the same day Jimi arrived there by plane. Since his gear was blocked in customs and the afternoon show already cancelled because of that, it seems like that the Event Promoter in Milan tried to find for some backup gear to make possible for Jimi to perform at the evening show. Apparently this very guitar was given to him, but since his white Strat was ultimately released from customs, he didn't used it, so he gave it to Italian singer Mia Martini as a gift at the end of the show.

We've been researching with Mia's longtime guitarist, Mauro Culotta, which used this very guitar in a lot of Mia's recordings, and he at first confirmed it was given to her by Jimi himself, but then he stated it was most likely a gift from Ivano Fossati.

So take the Hendrix story with a grain of salt, although even when it was sold in auction from the Mia Martin Estate Collection, the rumor was already present.

This is the perfect addition to any Fender Collection!
