PORTFOLIO - 1960's

1965 Fender Stratocaster Ocean Turquoise Metallic – Serial: 117183

This beautiful guitar has been played and has achieved a beautiful vibe and look. It came in from a customer with a newer pickguard and pickups, both changed long ago by the previous owner. Now it’s been setup with the original pickups and celluloid pickguard, shrunk but still perfectly functional.

We’ve found also evidence of some buffing done on the back of the body and on a part of the body front, likely to remove some sticky residue from one of those “body guards” that were used in the 60s.

While there is always debate among collectors weather we have a “Ocean Turquoise Metallic” Color or a Yellowed “lake placid blue” one, here the match with original paint color charts chips is pretty much impressive, expecially from under the guard, leaving no room for doubts. Our ToneTeam Luthier, Romano Burini, who worked carefully with carnauba wax to address the buffing done on the guitar, to prevent further damage to the original finish, noticed that the guitar has been factory sprayed “Ocean Turquoise metallic” over “lake Placid Blue” finish, as clearly seen where the layers of paint have been exposed by playing wear.
