PORTFOLIO - 1960's

1964 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst - Serial: L86840

This exceptionally clean guitar, which would have been a totally mint conditions example save for that only wear spot on the back, most likely happened by accident, since the guitar is basically "as new", came to me from the one and only Gil Southworth Jr..

When I was just a kid, I recall reading on practically each and every vintage book this line here: "Pic. courtesy Gil Southworth Jr.".

There was one in particular that I found to be particularly beautiful, a outside shot of a amazing "All Rosewood" Telecaster seen in "The Telecaster Book" by A.R. Duchoissoir, that I totally loved at first sight. Well, when I saw all those amazing pictures I knew what I wanted to do one day.

Today, that not only I've been able to be in touch with him but also to own one of his guitars, well I'm just super happy and proud of all the road done so far. They say that meeting your legends can be delusional, well, definitely not this time.

Regarding the guitar, it's a very early 1965, with all late 1964 specs, including a super rare, large bevel Celluloid green guard with the added "fourth" thin white celluloid layer on top, as seldom seen in late 64 to 65, all original down to every screw to the "Ashtray" bridge cover.

This is not only a stunning guitar to see, but it sounds killer. I love it !
